Early birth can be a good thing...

... in the very specific case of my new car, any way.

The good people at Torslanda, Goteborg, Sweden have hurried up and produced my Volvo XC90 a full month ahead of schedule.

It will be delivered to me on Tuesday, 1400hrs local time.

Just five more days of anticipation.

Sadly, another of the original crew of NCC-1701 Enterprise has passed away. Actor James Doohan died at the age of 85.

Userfriendly has a nice "Pearly Gates" comic to honour the deceased.

Free Press revisited

When the Founding Fathers and Mothers of Germany´s constitution settled down to distill a new democratic foundation from the lessons of three bygone German States in less than fifty years, they made a number of good points. One was the commitment, that War should never again emerge from German soil. Another was the inviolability of the dignity of men and the liberties based thereon.

Freedom of speech and a free press is one of the most valued ones. For a good reason, as we can see here :(

I Want Your VAX

Being an Old Fart, I can still remember standing in awe before the mighty VAX. So I guess I have a right to enjoy this funny song!

Terror and how to respond

Terrorism is bad, we can all accept that. But terrorism is only one side of the coin. How do we react in the face of it? Do we go all histerical or histerically nationalist? Do we get as militant as the terrorists?

Please consider these two blog entries.

The one side

and the other.

Terrorist Attack in London: Purported Al-Qaida Letter Claims Responsibility for Bombings - International - SPIEGEL ONLINE - News

Islamic terrorist groups obviously have targeted London´s public transport system, just as the G8 summit continues.

My deepest sympathies to anyone affected.

Mosh-mosh

Even though I am a long-haired Hippie, sometimes music "a little louder" fits the bill for me as well.

Well, here´s a friend´s little combo, Bastard Nation.

And they sound exactly as their name implies. "Play anything, just play it loud!"

If you remember Iron Maiden back in the eighties, they do sound a bit like that, with the odd bit of Motörhead and Def Leppard strewn in.

But at this time of night, I might still settle for Mssrs Crosby, Stills and Nash. Hey, perhaps Mr Young might be tuning in.

Good Night.
